Citizens Bank Park is named after Citizens Financial Group. The ballpark was built to replace the 33-year-old, now-demolished Veterans Stadium, a multipurpose football and baseball facility that was demolished in 2004.

The ballpark lies on the northeast corner of the Sports Complex, which includes Lincoln Financial Field, the Wells Fargo Center, and Xfinity Live!, the Center’s adjacent theme park and food court.

The ballpark features a natural grass-and-dirt playing field and several Philadelphia-style food stands that serve cheesesteak sandwiches, hoagies, Tastykakes, soft pretzels, Yards, Yuengling beer, and many other regional specialties.

The nearest major airport to Citizens Bank Park is Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), which is about 7 miles away. There are plenty of direct flight options from London Heathrow (LHR) to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) with a flight time of 8 hours and 50 minutes.

If you are already in the US and looking to travel to/from the Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, then you have the choice of most US domestic airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airways and WestJet.

The Citizens Bank Park is a few minutes walk from the NRG Station, which is served by the Broad Street Line. This is the best route to all games at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, and SEPTA also offers a Sports Express service for major events. Bus lines 4 and 17 also stop at the NRG Station. You could also make use of apps such as Moovit to get real-time directions to the Citizens Bank Park using public transportation.

Rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft are also available in the vicinity with a dedicated drop off zone located in Lot T.

Beyond the Airbnb and Sonder options there are many hotels nearby to suit all budgets, which can be booked directly or via one of the hotel reservation booking sites. Some popular options include Live Casino & Hotel – Philadelphia, which is a 3.5-star hotel with free parking, free WiFi, and a restaurant. Another option is the Radisson Hotel Philadelphia, PA, which is a 3-star hotel with free WiFi, a restaurant, and a 24-hour fitness centre.

Some areas to stay in South Philadelphia include Bella Vista and Queen Village. These neighbourhoods are residential but are full of destinations that even locals cannot pass up.
