Soldier Field was originally opened under the name Municipal Grant Park Stadium. On November 11th, 1925, the stadium’s name was changed to Soldier Field in dedication to U.S. soldiers who had died in combat during World War I. Its formal rededication as Soldier Field was held during the 29th annual playing of the Army–Navy Game on November 27th, 1926.

The stadium’s interior was rebuilt as part of a major renovation project in 2002, which modernized the facility but lowered its seating capacity, eventually causing it to be delisted as a National Historic Landmark in 2006.

The nearest airport is Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW), which is about 11 miles away. Unfortunately, you cannot currently fly direct into this airport from London so if you wanted to avoid multi-flight journeys the better option is to use Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), which is about 22 miles away and has several airlines flying into it directly from London.

If you are already in the US and looking to travel to/from Chicago, then you have the choice of most US domestic airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airways and WestJet.

There are several public transportation options available. One option is to take the Chicago Transit Authority subway (aka “The L”) to the Roosevelt station on the red, green, or orange lines. From there, it is about a mile walk to the stadium.

Another option is to take a bus. The nearest bus stop on the #146 bus route is at Soldier Field & Field Museum (East), which is about a 6-minute walk away.

Rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft are also available in the vicinity and have designated drop off and pick up location at Soldier Field.

Downtown Chicago is a wonderful place to stay. The Loop is a vibrant neighbourhood that is home to many of the city’s iconic buildings and attractions. The Near North Side is another popular neighbourhood to stay offering many cultural attractions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and the historic Water Tower. Both neighbourhoods offer great places to stay when visiting Soldier Field due to their central location and easy access to public transportation.

Beyond the Airbnb and Sonder options there are many hotels nearby to suit all budgets, which can be booked directly or via one of the hotel reservation booking sites.

The Chicago Bears sell their tickets via Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster is the official ticket outlet for the NFL.

For most teams, Ticketmaster sells tickets on behalf of the team and resells tickets on behalf of ticket sellers. You can tell the difference on the site as the Blue dots are tickets from the team themselves, and the pink dots are from verified sellers.
