26 teams are located in the United States and 3 teams in Canada.

The team with the best regular season record is presented the Supporters’ Shield.

14 teams progress to the post season MLS Cup Playoffs, the top 7 teams from each Conference. The MLS Cup Playoffs run into November.

Post Season culminates in the leagues Championship game with the winner being presented the MLS Cup.
