The arena opened in 1991 as the Delta Center under a naming rights deal with Delta Air Lines. EnergySolutions purchased the naming rights in 2006, and the arena was renamed EnergySolutions Arena until October 2015, when the home security system provider Vivint purchased the naming rights. The name changed again in 2023 when it returned to the Delta Center.
The arena has been home to other professional athletic teams, such as the Arena Football League’s Utah Blaze and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA)’s Utah Starz. It was also home to the figure skating and short-track speed skating competitions of the 2002 Winter Olympics, where it was referred to as the Salt Lake Ice Center.
