Paycom Center is an arena located in Downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Construction started on May 11th, 1999, and the arena opened on June 8th, 2002. Since 2008 the arena has served as the home venue for the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s Oklahoma City Thunder. Paycom Center has a 18,203-seat capacity for basketball games.

Paycom Center was originally known as the Ford Center from 2002 to 2010, Oklahoma City Arena from 2010 to 2011, Chesapeake Energy Arena from 2011 to 2021, and Paycom Center since 2021.

Previously, the arena was home to the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League (CHL) from 2002 until the team folded in July 2009, and the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of AF2 from 2004 to 2009 when the team moved to the Prairie Surf Studios. In addition to its use as a sports venue, Paycom Center hosts concerts, family and social events, conventions, ice shows, and civic events.

How to Get to Oklahoma City

The nearest airport to Paycom Center is Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) which is approximately 14 miles away. There are several flights available from London to Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) in Oklahoma City, but unfortunately, they all require a layover.

If you are already in the US and looking to travel to/from Oklahoma City, then you have the choice of most US domestic airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airways and WestJet.

Public Transport

There are several options for public transportation around Paycom Center. EMBARK provides bus and ferry transit services in the Oklahoma City metro area. You can also use the Oklahoma City Streetcar (tram), which has an Arena stop on its two routes that run in loops around the central city. You could also make use of apps such as Moovit to get real-time directions to the arena using public transportation.

Rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft are also available in the vicinity. There is a designated pickup and drop-off point for at Second and Harvey, located on the west side of Paycom Center.

Staying in Oklahoma City

Paycom Center is in Downtown Oklahoma City, which is known for its artsy neighbourhood and great entertainment and bars. One of the livelier sections of the city near Paycom Center is Bricktown, which has a variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options.

Beyond the Airbnb and Sonder options there are many hotels nearby to suit all budgets, which can be booked directly or via one of the hotel reservation booking sites. Some popular hotel options include the Omni Oklahoma City Hotel, Wyndham Grand Oklahoma City Downtown, Colcord Hotel, Courtyard Oklahoma City Downtown, and Fairfield Inn & Suites Oklahoma City Downtown.
