The Kia Center was built as part of the city’s Downtown Master Plan 3 and was the result of nearly a decade of negotiations between the city, Orange County, and the Orlando Magic. Construction began on July 25th, 2008, and the arena opened on October 1st, 2010. The arena is owned by the City of Orlando and operated by Orlando Venues.
The arena has hosted numerous notable events, including the 2012 NBA All-Star Game, the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game, as well as numerous other events, including concerts, graduations, and professional wrestling events.
