The Amway Center is an indoor arena located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. It was built in 2010 and replaced the old Amway Arena and is home to the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), and the Orlando Predators of the National Arena League. The seating capacity for NBA games is 18,846 people.

The Amway Center was built as part of the city’s Downtown Master Plan 3 and was the result of nearly a decade of negotiations between the city, Orange County, and the Orlando Magic. Construction began on July 25th, 2008, and the arena opened on October 1st, 2010. The arena is owned by the City of Orlando and operated by Orlando Venues.

The arena has hosted numerous notable events, including the 2012 NBA All-Star Game, the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game, as well as numerous other events, including concerts, graduations, and professional wrestling events.

How to Get to Orlando

The nearest airport to the Amway Center is the Orlando International Airport (MCO). It is located about 13 miles southeast of the arena and is a 20-minute drive away. Several airlines offer direct flights from London to Orlando International Airport (MCO) including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and American Airlines.

If you are already in the US and looking to travel to/from the Amway Center, then you have the choice of most US domestic airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airways and WestJet.

Public Transport

The Amway Center is located in Downtown Orlando and is easily accessible by public transportation. The LYNX Central Station, which is served by several LYNX bus routes, is located just a few blocks away from the arena. The SunRail commuter rail system also has a stop at the Church Street Station, which is within walking distance of the Amway Center.

The Amway Center has a designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up location on the north side of the arena along Church Street, between Division Avenue and Hughey Avenue. This location provides easy access to the arena’s main entrance.

Staying in Orlando

There are several popular neighbourhoods to stay in when visiting the Amway Center in Orlando. Downtown Orlando is in the heart of the city and is within walking distance of the Amway Center. It offers a wide range of accommodation options, from luxury hotels to budget-friendly options. Lake Eola Heights is a historic neighbourhood located just east of Downtown Orlando and offers a variety of charming bed and breakfasts and boutique hotels. Thornton Park is a trendy neighbourhood located just south of Lake Eola Heights and offers a variety of stylish hotels and vacation rentals.
