SoFi Stadium was built in 2016 in Inglewood, CA, by the Los Angeles Rams Owner/Chairman E. Stanley Kroenke. The SoFi Stadium was the first indoor-outdoor stadium to be constructed and is the home of the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams. It opened on September 8, 2020 and has a typical seating capacity of 70,240 but can expand to 100,240 for more major events.

The history of SoFi Stadium goes back a few years prior to its opening in September 2020. The stadium site, formerly known as the Betfair Hollywood Park, was a racecourse from 1938 until 2013.

The site was redeveloped by HKS and consists of the stadium itself, a pedestrian plaza, and a performance venue. Above the stadium is an independently supported translucent canopy which covers the stadium, the adjacent pedestrian plaza, and an attached performance venue. The stadium’s capacity for NFL games is a little over 70,000, but it can be maximised with additional seating for bigger events like concerts to a capacity of over 100,000.

How to Get to Los Angeles

The nearest airport to SoFi Stadium is Hawthorne (HHR) Airport which is 2.6 miles away.

There are no direct flights from London to Hawthorne (HHR) airport, but Los Angeles International (LAX) is a mere 4 miles from the stadium with plenty of direct flights from the UK from airlines such as Air New Zealand, American Airlines, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and United Airlines.

Where to Stay in Los Angeles

The most popular areas to stay near Sofi Stadium would be Downtown, Venice Beach, and Manhattan Beach.

Beyond the Airbnb and Sonder options there are many hotels nearby to suit all budgets, which can be booked directly or via one of the hotel reservation booking sites.

Some of the popular ones include Residence Inn by Marriott Los Angeles, Hyatt House LAX Century Blvd, The Westin Los Angeles Airport, La Quinta by Wyndham LAX, Holiday Inn Express Los Angeles LAX Airport, and Motel 6 Los Angeles.

I’d recommend checking where the nearest bus or rail connection is to your hotel for easier travel to the stadium.

Los Angeles Rams Tickets

The Los Angeles Rams sell their tickets via Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster is the official ticket outlet for the NFL.

For most teams, Ticketmaster sells tickets on behalf of the team and resells tickets on behalf of ticket sellers. You can tell the difference on the site as the Blue dots are tickets from the team themselves, and the pink dots are from verified sellers.

Here are links to the main ticket resale sites. Click on the link, which will open up a new window, and you can compare the prices on the different ticket resell sites, bearing in mind that the prices shown may have further selling platform fees added, so take time to read my tips to Buying Tickets in North America.

I recommend downloading the team’s Mobile App to your phone as it contains much Gameday information for the stadium.
