Lincoln Financial Field opened on August 3rd, 2003, after two years of construction that began on May 7th, 2001. It replaced the Veterans Stadium, which opened in 1971 and served as the home field for both the Eagles and Phillies. One interesting fact about Lincoln Financial Field is that the design of the stadium replicates the shape of an eagle, with wing-like canopies above the east and west stands.

The ballpark lies on the northeast corner of the Sports Complex, which includes Citizens Bank Park, the Wells Fargo Center, and Xfinity Live!, the Center’s adjacent theme park and food court.

The nearest major airport to Lincoln Financial Field is Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), which is about 7 miles away. There are plenty of direct flight options from London Heathrow (LHR) to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) with a flight time of 8 hours and 50 minutes.

If you are already in the US and looking to travel to/from the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, then you have the choice of most US domestic airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airways and WestJet.

The field is a few minutes’ walk from the NRG Station, which is served by the Broad Street Line. This is the best route to all games at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, and SEPTA also offers a Sports Express service for major events. Bus lines 4 and 17 also stop at the NRG Station. You could also use apps such as Moovit to get directions using public transportation.

Rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft are also available in the vicinity with dedicated drop off zones at Lot L located off Darien Street and Lot J located off 11th Street.

Beyond the Airbnb and Sonder options there are many hotels nearby to suit all budgets, which can be booked directly or via one of the hotel reservation booking sites. Some popular options include Live Casino & Hotel – Philadelphia, which is a 3.5-star hotel with free parking, free WiFi, and a restaurant. Another option is the Radisson Hotel Philadelphia, PA, which is a 3-star hotel with free WiFi, a restaurant, and a 24-hour fitness centre.

Some areas to stay in South Philadelphia include Bella Vista and Queen Village. These neighbourhoods are residential but are full of destinations that even locals cannot pass up.
