Barclays Center is part of a $4.9 billion future business and residential complex now known as Pacific Park. The arena was proposed in 2004 when real estate developer Bruce Ratner purchased the Nets for $300 million as the first step of the process to build a new home for the team.

Barclays Center opened on September 21, 2012, and the first NBA basketball game played was an NBA preseason game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards on October 15th, 2012. The arena also hosts concerts, conventions and other sporting and entertainment events.

New York is one of the easiest US cities to fly direct to from the UK, it is served by 2 airports, New York JFK (JFK) or Newark (EWR) airports and you can fly from London Heathrow (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW), London City (LCY) and Manchester (MAN). You can fly with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, United Airways, Delta, American Airlines, and a plethora of other airlines.

If you are already in the US and looking to travel to/from New York, then you have the choice of most US domestic airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airways and WestJet.

Barclays Center is accessible by public transportation. The Long Island Rail Road’s Atlantic Terminal is located directly across the street from the arena. The New York City Subway’s Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center station is also located nearby. Additionally, several MTA Regional Bus Operations routes serve the area around the arena. With so many options you could make use of free apps such as Moovit to get real-time timetables, maps and directions to the arena using local public transportation systems.

Rideshare services are also available in the vicinity with a designated drop off/pick up zone at the arena.

Barclay Center is in the Brooklyn neighbourhood of New York City. The area has a lot to offer tourists, popular attractions beyond the arena include the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Heights Promenade, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Williamsburg, Brooklyn Museum, and Brooklyn Brewery.

Beyond the Airbnb and Sonder options there are many hotels nearby to suit all budgets, which can be booked directly or via one of the hotel reservation booking sites. Some options close to Barclay Center include Sheraton Brooklyn New York Hotel, Hampton Inn Brooklyn/Downtown, Holiday Inn Brooklyn Downtown, Hotel RL Brooklyn, and La Quinta by Wyndham Brooklyn Downtown.

The Brooklyn Nets sell their tickets via Ticketmaster.
