Ground-breaking for the Ball Arena was held on November 20th, 1997, and it was completed in October 1999. The arena replaced McNichols Sports Arena as the home of the Avalanche and Nuggets. Its completion was marked by a Celine Dion concert. From its opening through 2020, the naming rights were held by PepsiCo. On October 22, 2020, the naming rights were sold to Broomfield-based Ball Corporation.

The capacity of Ball Arena varies depending on the event. For basketball games, the capacity is 19,520. For hockey and lacrosse games, the capacity is 17,809. For concerts, the capacity can be up to 20,000.

The nearest airport to Ball Arena is Denver International Airport (DEN). The distance between Ball Arena and Denver Airport (DEN) is around 24 miles and the journey time is around 50 minutes. British Airways is currently the only airline offering direct flights from London Heathrow (LHR) to Denver International Airport (DEN).

If you are already in the US and looking to travel to/from Denver, then you have the choice of most US domestic airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Frontier Airlines, Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airways and WestJet.

There are several public transportation options available around Ball Arena. The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is the public bus and light rail system for the Denver Metropolitan area. An RTD bus stop is located adjacent to the grounds of Ball Arena at 9th Street and Auraria Parkway and is served by multiple bus routes. The Ball Arena/Elitch Gardens stop is served by multiple light rail lines including C Line, E Line, and W Line.

You could also make use of apps such as Moovit to get directions to the arena using public transportation.

Beyond the Airbnb and Sonder options there are many hotels nearby to suit all budgets, which can be booked directly or via one of the hotel reservation booking sites.

There are many great neighbourhoods to stay in when visiting the Ball Arena. The Central Business District is a neighbourhood in downtown Denver that is home to some of the finest dining, best-loved bars, shopping, arts, and culture. LoDo (Lower Downtown) is one of the oldest places of settlement in the city. It is a mixed-use historic district known for its nightlife and serves as an example of success in urban reinvestment and revitalization.
