The National Basketball Association (NBA) is comprised of 30 teams, divided between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Each Conference is further divided into 3 Divisions of 5 teams.

The NBA regular season starts in October and continues through till April, with each team playing 82 games.

29 teams are located in the United States and 1 team in Canada.

16 Teams progress to the Post Season NBA Playoffs, the top 6 teams in each conference by win-loss record go direct to the playoffs, teams that finished 7th to 10th in each conference by win-loss record go into a Play-in tournament to decide the last 2 Play off spots. There is no guaranteed post season spot for Divisional Winners. The NBA Playoffs run into June.

Post Season culminates in a best-of-seven series between the two conference play off champions and the winner is presented with the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy.
